Week 4 begins with another house upgrade; we remove the whelping box and pen and put up both internal and external x-pens. With the temperatures moving into the low 80's for a few days they experience their first time out in the front yard as a group on Sat, and then individually on Sunday for pictures.
Weaning continues with the inclusion of ground raw turkey into the gruel. Caly still feeds in smaller shifts of four at a time, but her tolerance for teeth is dwindling, although she remains concerned anytime they cry.
They begin to get lots of visitors, interested buyers, neighborhood children and family friends. Wednesday Christi Yonavick and Jacki Wilde come to visit. With their help, and with input from Cher Mundy (Chain's Mom) we determine that there are two smooth males (Purple, Multi) and two smooth females (Pink, Yellow). Interestingly, they were the first two and last two puppies born. Personalities and temperaments continue to emerge.
