Week Two

Calypso/Chain — The Chain Gang

The second week of their life, starts with a housing upgrade for the Chain Gang. At a week old, the more audacious pups are pushing the limit of crawling out of their "A" and "B" team laundry basket apartment flats. The shuttling in and out of the whelping box for feeding is becoming more frequent as they clamour for more food. We add a playpen addition to the core whelping box that doubles their liebensraum. This will be good for perhaps 10 days when we will pull out the whelping pen, erect x-pens and give them a 10x12 living area.

No sooner are they in their new playground, then they begin to demonstate their mobility by taking their first staggered steps ,and a few crawl over the 6" separater to get to mama. By Day 12 thin slits appear as their eyes begin to open. At the end of the week everyone's eyes are open, and all are walking with various levels of dexterity.

Feeding time is truly a zoo now that they 2-3 times their birth size. The bar is really crowded!
