Stardust's Legacy of Calypso, is another dog we didn't expect to keep. The Caly/Chain 2009 litter was well beyond our expectations, and all the pups were placed, five to show/breeding homes until week seven, when unfortunate personal circumstances forced one of our show/breed buyers to withdraw. While we had a number of prospective companion buyers in reserve, we really wanted to place the puppies with top conformation in breeding homes. So, Legacy, who was originally destined for the Mid-west, ended up in the next best show home we could find—ours.
Legacy is a striking bi-black silver/tan resembling a plush version of his outstanding papa Chain. He is loving in the family and gets along with the entire Stardust pack. He does tend to be very reserved with strangers and we are working with him to achieve a more balanced "aloof" temperament that the breed standard describes. He is very comfortable with other dogs. He attends Dawg Day Care once a week run by a trainer friend, and is the only dog that can hold his own and is allowed to "play" with her two Canne Corso males.
We expect him to be our primary show dog for the next few seasons, and all indications are that he has the make up to do very well. His movement is outstanding, a direct inheritance of Caly and Chain, he has his mother's striking topline, and his father's erect posture, stature, and good looks. He has a lot of maturing to do, but we are very pleased to have him as a member of our pack.
